The communal celebration of the liturgy is the “source and summit” of the life of our parish. It is in the liturgy that we continue to be formed in the ways of our Christian life. As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, the liturgy is the primary source of strength as we celebrate our faith and seek to follow him more faithfully. The documents of Vatican II underscore the importance of worship:
From this it follows that every liturgical celebration, because it is an action of Christ the Priest and of his Body which is the Church, is a sacred action surpassing all others; no other action of the Church can equal its effectiveness by the same title and to the same degree. (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, #7)
