Meet Cressy Our New School Prinicipal

Jul 11, 2013

Meet Mrs. Cressy Epperly …

Greetings!  I am delighted to be here at St. Jude of the Lake Catholic School. I feel truly blessed to be working with such a warm and caring community.  My husband I have both been long time educators in the St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocesan schools.  We have two wonderful children, our son Courtney, and our daughter Colleen, both now grown and flown the nest.  Our children attended Catholic schools, St. Matthew’s School for elementary grades and St. Thomas Academy and Cretin-Derham Hall respectively for high school.

My father, Ted Michel, born and raised in St. Paul, was a career officer in the Air Force graduated from West Point in New York from where I was born.  My six siblings and I had the opportunity to travel, as we moved every three years.  We even spent three years in Naples, Italy.  I graduated from Duchesne Academy in Omaha, Nebraska and received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Elementary Education, with a minor in Spanish.  I went on to receive a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas and completed a degree as an Educational Specialist, licensed Administrator, K-12.  I am currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of St. Thomas in Educational Leadership.

I have been involved in Catholic education for most of my life, as a student, parent, teacher, administrator and leader.  I love to educate and I love being educated.  I am truly a lifelong learner and I feel blessed to be immersed in a Catholic culture and environment that nurtures what I love doing and being.  Our students today need to be provided with a strong foundation in core academics of religion, language arts, mathematics, and science and social studies.   These core academics need to be supported with the interrelatedness of technology, enriched with the fine arts of liturgical music, formal art instruction and visual arts and supported with physical education and extracurricular opportunities. Providing a comprehensive curriculum, grounded in the roots of our Catholic faith, are essential elements to prepare our students for the world they will inherit, and supports the International Baccalaureate Mission:  to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

St. Jude of the Lake Catholic School has provided a solid, faith-based education for 60 years.  Graduates leave the school well prepared to handle the spiritual and academic challenges of high school.  It is with great pride that I work with you to carry on this great tradition and I thank you for this opportunity.  Together, and collaboratively, we will continue to work hard to make St. Jude of the Lake the best it can be to prepare our young of today for tomorrow’s future, as responsible Christians and citizens of a global community.

In Christ,

Mrs. Cressy Epperly
