Pray the Rosary October 7, Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary
The feast day was established in 1573 by St. Pope Pius V, and for many centuries known as the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, commemorating a Christian victory over the Turks at Lepanto, which was attributed to the collective praying of the Rosary, invoking Mary's care and protection. What "battles" could we win together by doing the same?
The St. Jude Rosary Makers thank you for supporting our ministry! We recently received a framed picture and thank you through our friend Corrine from a priest in India who has received and distributed hundreds of rosaries made by our group. The picture is in the new library space --former crying room--to the right of the altar. Here is what he wrote:
"Thank you for your generous heart and effort you take for poor children and innocent illiterate Dalit [Untouchable caste] people. The Rosaries are beautiful. I have given to Legion of Mary members of my native parish and my previous parishioners. Today I am going to distribute to college students (boys and girls--there are more than 350). Thank you for your beautiful Rosaries!" -Fr. S. Arockia Doss
We also received another thank you from Fr. Michael Minogue, priest chaplain of United and Childrens Hospitals. He and the volunteer Eucharistic ministers have distributed over 1000 rosaries since October 2015, when he first asked if our parish would supply them. St. Jude has been one of his favorite saints since childhood!
Our next Rosary Makers potluck dinner will be held Thursday, November 10 from 6-8 p.m. in The Ark. We welcome, train, and provide supplies for anyone interested in this simple but profound and far-reaching way of sharing the Gospel. You can also support this ministry through your financial contributions. Please note "for Rosary Ministry" on your check or envelope and place in the offering basket at Mass.
