St Jude of the Lake School, a vibrant Catholic PreK-8 school, seeks a strong principal (beginning July 1, 2010) to continue its tradition of excellence. With an enrollment of 220 students, the school is located in Mahtomedi, Minn., an attractive east-metro suburb of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for Catholic education and be driven to provide effective, visionary leadership for the overall operation of the school and its exceptional staff, involved parents and responsive students. Applicant must be a practicing Catholic, possess current teaching and/or administrator license, and have at least five years of experience in a K-8 environment. Applicant should be well versed in child development, staff development, and best practices in curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology integration. Commitment to a collaborative learning culture within the school and ability to build innovative learning communities is preferred. Successful candidate should know how to manage school finances and personnel and be able to create a safe, respectful learning environment for all students.

Weekly News

Middle School Students study Louvre Masterpieces: Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to be art presenters for four locations around the world: France, Italy, Egypt, or the Netherlands. They can earn points for sharing what they have learned as teams. This is a wonderful new extension of the Art opportunities offered through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Thank you to coordinators Mary Conroy, Amy Jungbauer, Carrie Hackman and Kari McGrath.

St. Jude Teachers register for the NCEA Convention: The annual National Catholic Education Association convention will be held in Minneapolis this year. Ten of our teachers will attend all or part of the convention next month.

Validation Team set to visit St. Jude: April 19-21 are the dates set to welcome the team appointed by Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) and Minnesota Catholic Education Association (MCEA) to validate our self-study. Areas of strengths and challenge have been identified and from these a seven year school strategic plan has been developed.

Faith is alive at St. Jude of the Lake: The school will participate in Reconciliation this week in addition to weekly Mass.
