Endowment Fund

The St. Jude of the Lake Endowment Fund is a perpetual endowment designed to provide stable, ongoing financial support to our parish – forever.

Gifts to the endowment are grown through prudent, faith-aligned investing. The fund is legally protected. Annual grants from the fund will be used to support our parish ministry, operations, and faith formation – strengthing our mission.

Each year, we have the option to receive a grant from the fund or keep it invested to grow for the future. Our goal is to continue growing the fund through your gifts, creating a perpetual source of income for our parish commuity.

Large and small, now and later, Every Gift Has an Impact!

The Basics of Giving Appreciated Securities

Stock Donations

St. Jude of the Lake Church and School has partnered with the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota (CCF) to process gifts of appreciated securities. If you plan to make a gift of stock, mutual funds, bonds, or ETFs, please contact the parish office to inform us of your gift: type of security, ticker symbol, and number of shares. St. Jude of the Lake staff will provide you with instructions for completing your gift.

Why Give Appreciated Securities?

Giving long-term appreciated securities — those that you’ve held for more than one year — to charity is a smart way to give for three reasons:

  1. When the market is strong, the value of your gift is higher. Simply put, you have more to give.
  2. You can give up to 30% more by avoiding capital gains tax on appreciated securities when gifted to a charity or donor advised fund. This is especially beneficial when the securities have experienced significant growth.
  3. You also receive an income tax deduction for the full value of the donation up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. Work with your tax advisor to determine further benefits.

Why Give Now?

The market doesn’t perform according to calendar dates. Why should your giving? For appreciated assets, the best time to give is when you feel they’ve appreciated enough and can maximize your charitable giving. Don’t let December 31 make that decision.

While many people wait until the end of the year to make philanthropic gifts, now might be an ideal moment to capture the price of appreciated securities. In these ways, a gift of appreciated assets can be more advantageous than a simple gift of cash — to both you and our church or school.
